Introduction

Before the availability of the Free BetFair API, I have written bots using my own BetFair library based on webscraping.  However, due to certain restrictions on the the Free BetFair API, I continue to augment the API with my own library to allow faster bot performance and keeping it free.  One good example is getting live data.  The Free BetFair API allows only 1 call per second but with my version, there is no such restrictions. 

For very demanding bots, I am also a certified BetFair API developer and therefore have a vendor license and write bots with the full BetFair API and my customer does not need to pay any subscription fees to use the bot.

Finally, I never gamble on any online gambling site.  I know the concepts well and I am only involved with Betfair purely from a programming point of view.

All my BetFair bots have been written using Microsoft C#.NET using both webscraping and BetFair API.

So far from my experience with writing BetFair bots, I can generalize these bots into 2 categories : Multievent arbitrage bots and single event equalized bets/interactive bots.

Bespoke bots

I have written over 15 customized bots since 2004 and this is my specialty.  You give me the specifications and I will write write a bot for you.

Multievent automated bots

In this case the user selects 10-15 markets and set up some sort of trading rules and let the bot run all day automatically.  You can basically get it setup before doing to the office.

Interactive or single event bots

These bots are on an one-event-at-a-time basis.  These bots usually attract users that want to be part of the betting action.  They would be at the computer terminal monitoring the bets.  The user can override the automatic betting algorithms if he/she wants to.
