Well the jumps season has certainly started unspectacularly thanks mainly to the ground reducing fields and creating a welter of non betting races. This has had an impact, as those of you who follow the horse betting tips blog will have noticed.

The beginning of the week was difficult for each way betting as I like to do it but I managed a winner and a 14/1 place yesterday to hopefully signal a change. The trouble with the jumps is the fact we get the odd faller which can be frustrating especially if it’s the final fence and they were in contention. Ripped up betting slips and a bout of swearing soon follow these occurrences!

I don’t know if you recall the market mover article produced at www.laytheodds.com but this market mover system has been very good this week with a winner in Double Quest at 16/1 the highlight. To remind you, compare the betting forecast prices with the live market prices and note any price differences. Here’s a good example

You’ll see the bookmaker prices in the columns under the various bookie banners with the betting forecast at the base of the card in the new look betting site at www.racingpost.co.uk. Simply compare the live market with the betting forecast and note any difference. Can you see one standout example from the above? Yes Shinkosan – 10/1 in the betting forecast and quoted at 5/1 in the live market COULD signal a potential market mover, or a horse the bookies want on their sides.

As it happened on this occasion Shinkosan failed to place. Desert Quest was 66/1 in the betting forecast this week and was priced at 20/1 with the bookmakers ,moving down to 16/1 and WON under, it must be said, a very enterprising ride from Roddy Greene. This is not coincidence I can assure you and if we take on faith the accuracy , or general accuracy, of the betting forecaster then we can unearth these nice prices from time to time. I urge you to reread the article and familiarise yourself with the system and some of the basic rules to follow.

Elsewhere this weekend domestic football is on hold for the internationals and the Scotland Italy match looks the one to concentrate on.

As an aside I am trialling a number of football tipsters and frankly the feeling “ I could do better myself and I won’t be charging myself £50 per month” springs to mind. A lot of these guys are self-styled football gurus but are really average joes who have just charged for their opinion – and that’s just what it is – an opinion.

Now you can do better yourself with your own knowledge and perhaps 10-15 minutes research in a weekend, looking at recent form, team news for current match, head to heads. All of the info you need is freely available on the internet and through small investments in publications like the Racing and Football Outlook. It is a bug bear of mine but I suppose if you can get away with charging then……

Having just said all this I am aware people want others to do the work for them. My roster’s increasing weekly and if any really stand out with a unique method which produces consistent profit then we, at laytheodds.com will be pleased to let you know.

I’ve got a few more systems to look at this week, most recently ComputaPik which is a stop at a winner system – early signs?

It’s encouraging and easy to implement but I need a few more results before giving it the thumbs up.

Hope you enjoy the footy this weekend – what chance a tight game for the Scots tomorrow. I wish them well, and as I sign off, I note Spotthedifference has just won AGAIN, and got up after a fall after the line – PHEW! – Horses for courses eh?
