Before you decide to have your next wager on the horses, I wish to let you know that 'maidens' on the Flat are capable of providing a source of income on a regular basis if treated correctly.
Just let's examine how the 'favourite' fared in every 'maiden' to have been run in Mainland Britain between October 16, 2008 and October 22, 2008 inclusive.

Any race in which two or more contenders went off 'joint favourite' have been excluded from the list.

After studying these results, you may wish to know that 22 favourites won or finished in the frame from the 31 contenders - that's a 71% strike-rate.

Let's now have a close look at the online betting prices that the nine unplaced horses went off at -
10/11, 9/4, 5/2, evens, 3/1, 15/8, 2/1, 100/30 and 4/5.

But, most importantly, have you guessed how many runners from the list that went off at 8/11 or shorter either won or were placed?

If you look at the prices in bold type in the right-hand column, you will find the answer. It may look too good to be true, but all seven runners managed to reach the frame - now that's a 100 % strike-rate!
