I have been professional punter and successful trader since August 2002 when I left my high profile job as company spokesman for Ladbrokes. I believe the two disciplines are separate, because one is gambling and the other is risk management, however I do feel there is room for both and you should never be frightened to take one-way positions.

During the past five years I kept a low profile although I have acted as consultant to various companies within this industry. November 2007 I decide to launch Pro X Trading to mentor a maximum 100  traders become more professional with their approach to trading, enabling them supplement their income with extra money from the exchanges.

Sometimes the best systems are the really simple ones to follow, a friend of mine asked me about if I new anything about one of the leading laying tipsters proofing to racing-index. I look at their results, they seemed quite impressive, however they lay many horses a day, so you would need to have time on your hands to make the service pay.

This week I have spent a bit of time playing with Extrabet and their new service that allows you to take a position throughout the in-play matches. To me its a cross between head-to-head betting and Deal or No Deal, but to novice Betfair trader it maybe a good place to tinker with.

Following the launch of Pro X Trading I have been busy this week with one to one mentoring sessions. The feedback I have been given is very positive and the level of understanding of the Betfair platform is good. During a session one member asked for my opinion of a well-known soccer trading method, having not digested the method fully it would be wrong to reveal the strategy on here today.

The Inside Scoop (v)

This week I have been very busy following the launch of my trading club (Pro X Trading), and members are already getting the benefits of the one to one mentoring from me. I am in the process of automating some of my most guarded trading secrets with a Betfair solutions provider and this will free up my time to help others make that jump and become full time sports traders.

The Inside Scoop (iv)

The blog has developed so much since my last post and it has the making of a good source of information, in this weeks Inside Scoop I want to expand on the excellent post by Sammy Chim with regards Betfair Trading Software. Sammy has hit the nail on the head with his thoughts and Bet Trader Pro is an excellent platform, do I use it?

The Inside Scoop (iii)

As a professional punter I spend hours researching my bets, lays and trades, I do so with a complete open mind. I hate comments like never back odds on favourites in flat handicap races or lay the favourite in novice, hunter & beginner chases. Often these types of remarks are not backed up hard facts and the person making them is trying to appear more knowledgeable than they actually are.

The Inside Scoop (ii)

Over the past few weeks I have been totally hooked on the twenty world cup, this was an event that I didn't trade but I certainly learnt a few lessons on how money can be made from the event.

The Inside Scoop (i)

Welcome to my weekly laytheodds column 'The Inside Scoop' which I will post every Friday before midday. I have always associated the word scoop with money, ever since my teenage days, when me and workmate used to go from seaside resort to seaside resort cleaning out the fruit machines.
