Yesterday I had a very interesting business meeting with a very good friend of mine. I won’t name names just yet but for amusement let’s call him Mr. X. To say this guy is a huge betting man is like saying Zsa Zsa Gabor likes wedding cake. Now this guy does it all, and who could blame him he just loves the lifestyle, horses, football, rugby, tennis, golf, poker, roulette, blackjack, you name it he bets on it. He will bet on anything, and I really do mean anything. His office, well his garage which he had converted into an office is a pretty impressive place, he has four pioneer big screen TV’s wall mounted off course, a P.C with triple screen, a laptop, and more mobile phones than a Vodafone store.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

It’s all quite crazy but that’s his business and he takes it all very seriously. I take my hat off to him, he gets involved with a huge variety of sporting events much more than I do. I’m quite content with a couple of laptops with fast broadband connection, sports channels and a coffee machine. As we are all friends now I will let you into our topic of conversation. It may not be quite what you expect when Pro gamblers get together, we didn’t discuss the 2:00 at <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Perth or discuss our last big pay day. Ok so we might have talked a little sport, however I digress.

The main theme of the conversation centred around how to bring the best sporting advice to the table in a new fresh way and to achieve something that has never been done before. Providing this type of information to enable the general public to be able to use it on a daily basis. Now, this may all seem rather straight forward, (I just give you a tip you place the bet you collect Right! Wrong). You see you can lead a horse to water but you can’t climb a ladder with a bell in both hands. Sometimes where gambling is concerned you can only teach so much. Advice may at times be a gold mine to some people and worthless to others. Having someone teach you methods maybe something you can pick up fairly quickly. The key factor here is experience, this in turn takes time and you can’t rush experience.

This is where Mr X wants to be involved, at the helm bringing that wealth of experience. I told him that whatever information you give people they still have to make up there own minds before placing cash on any sporting event. The bottom line really stops with them. I asked him why did he feel the need to put so much time and effort into this venture when he was making more than a comfortable living on his own without having the added stress of clients emailing him, calling him and bombarding him with questions. His answer was simple, “Why Not”. You see here is a guy who never wanted to conform to the day to day mundane tasks; he wanted to prove he could make it work. For him this was just another challenge in proving to himself that he could make this work too. From there I put my card on the table and said ok Mr X I’m going to help you out anyway I can, but before he could smile I said “we can discuss my fee at a later date it takes more than just a free lunch”.

I told him you could give people the best advice and top quality information in the world, people may even pay you for this particular information, but at the end of the day they will still decipher that information and make there own judgements right or wrong. Now do you see the dilemma he is having? He basically requires my help to bring all what he does on a daily basis to the table for people to divulge. I now realise that the reason he invited me out for a spot of lunch wasn’t really for a catch up but more of an opportunity for him to pick my brains somewhat. It struck me that Mr X is so involved with this project rattling around inside his head that he had forgotten a few basics along the way, he was thinking 10 steps ahead instead of looking at what he has right in front of him. Mr. X fired question after question not even giving me a chance to answer or touch my starter. So basically I chopped the subject down and stripped away the bull and this is what I told him.

“People like to bet, we all know that and there really isn’t any secret there”. The secret is finding the right people who you can help. Now matter what, some people will never make money from professional sports investment, just isn’t going to happen. You could give two punters the same advise for a month and I guarantee after two weeks they would have different results, “Why, human nature”. So firstly you will have to qualify the people you want to help, by that I mean handpick you members and by handpick I mean choose the best people you feel you can help the most and work with on a regular basis. People who have no idea about betting or who have never placed a bet will listen and learn a lot quicker to what you are telling them.

You see it’s not really about teaching people how to win, its teaching them how not to loose. Providing people with enough top quality information to enable them to stop loosing. This may sound crazy but trust me as I’ve mentioned before winning and loosing go hand in hand where gambling is concerned. So I told him, “know matter how good the information you provide, you must transfer that information in the correct manor”, but maybe no matter how clear you make it or spell it out you will never really be able to give 24/7 betting tactics to everyone. Expecting people to worship you for what you are providing is a huge misconception. The word gamble sounds so ominous; however a structured well organised tactical betting assault is a mathematical equation which is geared in such a way to take the gamble out of gambling. Bottom line we all have to face is “We all like a bet”.

What a weekend of splendid sports action we have had. Fulham did the unthinkable and managed to pull off the great escape much to the disgust of Reading and <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Birmingham city fans I'm sure. I had Fulham gone and buried a few weeks ago, I even wrote how I thought Birmingham would stay up. There you have it I can’t be right all the time. Birmingham is now a club in real crisis as fans showed a lack of respect as I'm sure emotions were running high. Some Birmingham fans let their mouths run away with them by sending abuse to the board after the game. This was taken on board by the chairmen who now want to sell their shares to each other, seems like things may get messy down at St Andrews. No great surprise when Man U did what they do best by getting the job done. Being the Newcastle fan I am I’m not a big fan of Man U so I wont go into that, however one player stood out from the rest for me and that was Ryan Giggs, what a total pro this guy has been, outstanding and a dream goal to finish the match.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Saturday night brought us boxing action. The only hitting Junior Witter did on Saturday night was when he hit the canvas. I slipped up myself, I didn’t even bet on the American Tim Bradley, after round one it was obvious what was going to happen. Witter has been living on the back of a showdown with Hatton for two long and the reason Hatton didn’t give Witter a fight was because it would have being like me fighting a girl, no contest. Brendon Ingle Witter’s trainer mentioned after the Hatton v Mayweather fight that if Witter fought against Mayweather then Mayweather was getting knocked out... I spat coffee across the room when I heard that one; Mr Ingle must have been smoking crack before that interviewed. After the 12th round bell went and Witter raised his gloves, Ingle had a look on his face as if to say it’s all over. Thankfully Bradley has now put all that Hatton talk to bed. Carl Froch did as expected and beat up on some Polish guy for a few rounds. It won’t be to long before we see what he can really do against better opposition. Possibly in the form of Mikkel Kessler, however since Kessler pulled out of his upcoming fight against Edison Miranda, the Froch camp and Mick Hennessey may have to work hard to meet Kessler’s demands as he seems more diva than Maria Carey. Some of Kessler’s demands were extraordinary the only thing missing was a bowl of all blue M&M's in his dressing room.

Sven is still the hot topic as Middlesbrough did what Reading needed to do and smashed 8 goals past the opposition. I reckon Sven must already know the outcome of future showdown talks with City’s owner. My sources tell me Sven was spotted getting off the team coach in Boro’s town centre emerging in his Boro shirt, hat and scarf before heading straight into Ladbrokes with a large physio bag tucked under his arm hours before kick off. If you ask me any manager who faces the cameras after his team has just been smashed like City were is either a top guy who deserves credit after been humiliated by his side and more than likely costing him his job, or a man who has placed a ridiculously large bet on the opposition.. I’ll let you make up your own minds on that one.

Regards

Ross

Fancy making a risk free £7.50 in 10
minutes. If the answer is yes then get yourself over to EUROBET<u1:p> </u1:p>and have a go on their Game of the
Month offer.<u1:p> </u1:p>

This month’s game is called 60
Seconds, a lottery type game where 6 balls are drawn every minute (hence the
name) and you can bet on the outcome with a
range possible options, such as Hi/Lo, Odd/Even etc……<u1:p>

EUROBET<u1:p> are offering £10 cash once you have wagered
£100 on this game as long as you transfer the money using this month’s bonus
code which is CLEOPATRA<u1:p></u1:p> </u1:p></u1:p>

The way to play this risk free is to
deposit into the games area of the site between £15 and £20 into the games area of the site
using the CLEOPATRA code.
Launch the 60 Seconds game then select the Odd or Even option. Pick ODD, place a stake of £5 and confirm, then repeat
choosing EVEN in the same game, each selection will pay £9.75 to a £5 stake.
Just make sure you get both bets in for the same game, obviously you have 60
seconds to do it!<u1:p> </u1:p>

Whatever the draw you
will get £9.75 back so just repeat the exercise ten times over to meet the £100
wagering requirement. You will be £2.50 down but then £10 will be
automatically credited to your account giving you a £7.50 profit with can be
immediately withdrawn, brilliant!<u1:p> </u1:p>

If you have a second
account for a partner then you can do this for a second time too, just remember
to use the code CLEOPATRA when you transfer the money into the games
area of the site, so
that's a potential £15 in 20 minutes.

of their free bets are they are Stake Return so you can wager on ANY odds we

British Boxing Future looking Bright

Being the massive boxing fan I am I thought I would post about the British Boxing contingent? First let’s start with Amir Khan who is scheduled to fight former British super featherweight champion Michael Gomez in <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Birmingham on 21 June. Gomez is a typical in your face sort of fighter and one who smashed Alex Arthur onto the canvas a few years ago. So this should be a different style of fight for Amir and possibly a stern test. Kahn is unbeaten in 17 pro fights and will have to deal with Gomez walking forward trying to open up Kahn and land bombs. If Kahn deals with this style which I’m sure he will then he should go onto win the fight. As long as Kahn keeps moving and keeps his hand up then his superior hand speed should be effective enough to outbox Gomez. I can’t see Gomez being as fit as Kahn either and having had back to back losses in 2005 he has since struggled to find his form. The only concern will be if Gomez lands a big enough shot to test out Kahn’s chin which has yet to be tested by a big puncher. He looked more than a little rattled when light handed Willie Limond sent shock waves through Kahn’s boots in the sixth round. So this could be an explosive fight.

<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Carl 'The Cobra' Froch has a new opponent for his fight on Saturday in Nottingham. After Russian Dennis Inkin pulled out of the fight for the second time, a quick replacement was required for Froch to beat up. In steps American fighter Rubin Williams who has taken the fight on short notice. Froch is set up to be the future of the Super-Middleweight division and the fighter has plenty of talent, a good chin and a hunger for success. Froch may feel he has been overlooked in the past but there is know doubt he is set for great things since being named as mandatory challenger for the WBC Super-middleweight crown. Having watched him for a number of years he improves with every fight and brings a certain edge to his fights, so my advice for Saturday the 10th of May will be Back Carl Froch for the win.

Alex Arthur has finally heard the good news that his WBO Super featherweight title fight has been given the green light for June. Arthur’s opponent the tough Champion Joan Guzman had a few visa issues and had to postpone the original fight on the 3rd of May. Guzman will defend his WBO title in the beautiful city of Edinburgh, however come fight night the beauty will be left outside the ring as I expect a brutal fight between these two. I must admit I never really like the way Alex Arthur went about his work in the past, and when Gomez beat him I was expecting him to continue being a cocky fighter. However he has won me over with his commitment to his art and has turned in some key performances on route to the top. This as Arthur will surly be aware is a tough fight as Guzman is a top quality opponent who will take Arthur to the edge. I’m still undecided on how this fight will play out as home advantage will no doubt help Arthur who last fought in December when he survived a knockdown to overcome Steve Foster Junior and retain his interim title.

All in all should be a few cracking fight to keep an eye on and a few bets will no doubt be had.

Regards

Addictive Personalities

A mate of mine visited me over the weekend for a catch up as I hadn’t seen him in a long time, due mainly to work commitments. Anyway he was curious to see what I had been doing in the dark world of sports betting. Gambling is to most people, an issue, a problem, a mischief, or a habit, but to others it’s a business opportunity. Some people just know that they shouldn’t gamble and avoid temptation like the plague; others however can’t help it, know matter what the result it’s all about the thrill.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

It really all comes down to having the right sort of personality to deal with the highs and lows and having the ability to adapt to the changes as they present themselves. To have an addictive personality is in general not good; however for a gambler it’s disastrous. Some people believe it or not “like to lose”, it’s true. These people don’t ever expect to win for them the release of a bet gives them some gratification for there effort. If they manage a win or two along the way then it’s a bonus and gives them even more to bet next time round. No matter how crazy this sounds I can assure you it’s true. If you have ever been to your local casino and just stood at a table watching how crazy some people get and how easily they place random bets with different stakes then some of what Im saying will start to make sense.

I was talking about this with my mate and he basically told me that no matter how much he wants to bet on the football or horses he just cannot allow himself to place even one bet. He said he had to miss the last works night out as someone decided the casino would make a great place for staff members to bond get drunk and gamble there wages packets away. Gambling and booze go hand in hand but drinking and gambling is the quickest way to lose money and the casinos know it.

I asked him was it all to do with his self control and he basically said he had none what-so-ever. Basically it’s all or nothing with him, no in-between. Otherwise before he knows it he will go buck wild and be out on the street before the weekend. He puts it’s down to his addictive personality. I’ll give you an example, when he goes to the gym he doesn’t go like a normal person, he goes twice a day seven days a week, when he buys a bottle of coke he drinks bottle after bottle for the entire week.

He told me one week he couldn’t stop drinking bottles of water, then next he can’t get enough espresso, now these are his words not mine so you can imagine what would happen if he ended up in the bookies. Im sure he would just bet on every race with no idea what he was doing apart from throwing money away, and lots of it. So the moral of this story if you like, don’t get drunk while gambling and expect to come home with anything other than a takeaway if your lucky, and never ever give your friend betting tips if you think he may be drinking excessive amounts of espresso’s.

This is the question on my mind this morning, having just read an article which proposes that we look for consensus naps to back. IE when two tipsters make the same selection there best win bet of the day we should bet it to win.

There was a time when I would have considered this a good strategy, but that was before I had a good understanding of value and market forces.

The answer to the question is not straightforward, which unfortunately is often the case!

If The Sun newspaper naps a selection you can be sure that there will be a lot of people betting that horse. If it is also napped by the Racing Post then a whole lot more people will be considering it as a bet also. What this means is that the horse will be overbet and market forces will cause the price to shorten.

It's just simple supply and demand if everybody wants to buy something the price goes up. Like the housing market when huge mortgages are easy to come by, the price of a house goes up because for every house there is competition to buy it. Now we have a credit squeeze on there are not so many buyers so the seller has to reduce their price in order to make the sale.

In betting to win, the equivalent of the price going up is that the prices shorten EG your 2/1 shot is suddenly only available at 6/4. If it has a one in three chance then it is now bad value and is a bad bet, whether it wins or loses, because over the long term at level stakes you will lose if you back horses with a one in three chance at odds of less than 2/1. Fact.

Win @ 6/4 = +1.5

Lose @6/4 = -1

Lose @6/4 = -1

Grand Total = - 0.5

So to get back to the opening question the answer is that if you have access to a couple of unknown but good tipsters and they both nap a selection and the rest of the world doesn't, then it is likely that you are onto a value bet.

On the other hand if two well known and popular tipsters nap the same selection, then you might want to look closer at the selection with a view to laying it to lose, it is unlikley that the selection will start at a value price.

Having won the 1968 European cup final, Matt Busby became Sir Matt after being knighted following there 4-1 win aet over Benfica. 40 years on and Manchester United have another great chance to lift the Champions League Trophy for the first time in 9 years thanks to Paul Scholes and his right foot. This time Moscow’s Luzhniki Stadium sets the scene for what will be an all English final. Man U played some sterling football on Tuesday night and managed to hold there nerve as <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Barcelona played some scintillating football trying to breakdown the back four. Some of Barca's play was simply excellent and at times they made United look ordinary. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Barcelona managed to pen Man U back into there own half looking for the away goal which just didn't come. Man U looked rattled a few times but showed grit and determination to make it to the final. Chelsea did a job on Liverpool as I expected and now they will be making the trip to Russia. With both teams fighting to the end in domestic and foreign competitions it's going to be a fight till the death. At this stage I see Man U winning the League as they have the easier run in over the last couple of games, however I can see Chelsea winning in Moscow. It seems now that Avram Grant is confident when it comes to keeping his job next season, however I only believe this to be the case if Grant is able to win in Moscow.

I see that sour puss Michel Platini was on the T.V being his usual awkward self while been interviewed. He was commenting on how great it was for two English teams making it to the Champions league final! Michel responded in the only way he knows how, in a negative its no big deal type of way. It seems Mr. Platini doesn't think all that much of the English game. As he rattled on about how Spain and Italy had two teams in previous finals. I wonder what his opinion of the Scottish football league was prior to the game last night. What a cracking result for Rangers who managed a great result overcoming Fiorentina 4 – 2 on penalties. I must admit I missed the game and didn't even have a bet, which was probably just as well as I do like Fiorentina. They have played some nice football this season but they would have let me down this time. Maybe Rangers will put the icing on the cake with another win in the final, we will have to wait and see on that front.

Sticking with the football theme we have a few games to deal with domestically this weekend. No game comes bigger than that of Fulham v Birmingham. Just think how many millions of pounds are at stake for both clubs as they fight for there lives. I think this will be a cracking game. Birmingham have hit the skids of late and Fulham looked sunk a long time ago and at City last week it looked all over before a stunning comeback kept there dreams alive and could send Sven to the dole queue. As for the top two, Man U are playing at home to West Ham so I'm sure you can all tell what will happen there unless West Ham have a blinding game. As for Chelsea well my team Newcastle play host to them on Monday night, lets face facts they are flying at the moment and looking for there 8th game unbeaten having only conceded just 4 goals in the last 7 games, so on that note Chelsea may have a bit of a fight on there hands.Chelsea haven't won in the league at St James since Dec 2001 should be an interesting game.

Well the sports world is just packed full of hot topics today, so we shall jump straight into the breach. Top of the pile must be the story which must have shocked a few <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Man City fans with the announcement that the snake hipped shagger from Sweden, Sven-Goran Eriksson will be given his P45 at the end of the current season. Now some may have said it was bound to happen but let’s put this into perspective for a moment. This is Man City we are talking about not Manchester United. OK City did the unthinkable and pulled off the double over United this season, I for one had a cheeky smile. Which ever way you look at the situation it’s a far cry away from where they were last season and the season before that. Surly Man City fans will be showing there dissatisfaction with one man in particular for showing Sven the door Thaksin Shinawatra. After what has been a successful season for City by there standards.
<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Over the last few weeks they have lost some form and slipped down the table after a fantastic start, but hey it’s the Premiership, the toughest league in the world, so with a relatively new squad what else can you expect. Now in his England days I must admit I was never Sven’s greatest fan but I must say he has won me over with the way he has turned City around, he has spend £46 million on players his critics might add, but in terms of success this is really not a great deal compared to what is required to succeed in the Premiership. Pull up a chair and ask Mr. Abramovich how much cash he has lashed around to transform Chelsea, (£578 million) hardly pocket change even to him.

Maybe Mr Thaksin is expecting his frozen assets in Thailand will be defrosted in time and emptied into a summer war chest to be unleashed on the premiership like the opening of the Lost Ark. Already the name of Luiz Felipe Scolari is been touted around as the next manager, I remember him been mentioned to follow Sven after the England job, so who knows. I’m sure City fans will be boiling with the whole situation at the moment, however football is a strange game and who knows if City have a great season 08 09 all will be forgiven. As for Sven it’s a ride off into the sunset to spend his summer holidays building Ikea furniture waiting for the phone to ring I’m sure he wont be out of work for to long as someone will snap him up. City’s future still looks bright with or without Sven.

More football and we know the big game tonight will be staged at the other side of Manchester. Barcelona will be without Ronaldinho who has fallen from grace and is injured. Man U are hopeful Wayne Rooney will be fit after picking up what looked like a hip injury on Saturday. Man U definitely have the upper hand after the first leg and I expect their performance to be greatly improved from the poor show at the Nou camp.

Someone's 0 has got to go tonight as both Man U and Barcelona are un-beaten this Champion’s League season. Barca and Man U have kept clean sheets in there last four Champions League matches, so can we expect fireworks at Old Trafford? Cristiano Ronaldo is this seasons Champions League top scorer with 7 goals, he has scored 38 goals in all competitions for United this season. Only Dennis Law and Ruud Van Nistelrooy have scored more in a season. I expect Man U to get the job done tonight as now they are down to the business end of both competitions.
