Well the sports world is just packed full of hot topics today, so we shall jump straight into the breach. Top of the pile must be the story which must have shocked a few Man City fans with the announcement that the snake hipped shagger from Sweden, Sven-Goran Eriksson will be given his P45 at the end of the current season. Now some may have said it was bound to happen but let’s put this into perspective for a moment. This is Man City we are talking about not Manchester United. OK City did the unthinkable and pulled off the double over United this season, I for one had a cheeky smile. Which ever way you look at the situation it’s a far cry away from where they were last season and the season before that. Surly Man City fans will be showing there dissatisfaction with one man in particular for showing Sven the door Thaksin Shinawatra. After what has been a successful season for City by there standards.

Over the last few weeks they have lost some form and slipped down the table after a fantastic start, but hey it’s the Premiership, the toughest league in the world, so with a relatively new squad what else can you expect. Now in his England days I must admit I was never Sven’s greatest fan but I must say he has won me over with the way he has turned City around, he has spend £46 million on players his critics might add, but in terms of success this is really not a great deal compared to what is required to succeed in the Premiership. Pull up a chair and ask Mr. Abramovich how much cash he has lashed around to transform Chelsea, (£578 million) hardly pocket change even to him.

Maybe Mr Thaksin is expecting his frozen assets in Thailand will be defrosted in time and emptied into a summer war chest to be unleashed on the premiership like the opening of the Lost Ark. Already the name of Luiz Felipe Scolari is been touted around as the next manager, I remember him been mentioned to follow Sven after the England job, so who knows. I’m sure City fans will be boiling with the whole situation at the moment, however football is a strange game and who knows if City have a great season 08 09 all will be forgiven. As for Sven it’s a ride off into the sunset to spend his summer holidays building Ikea furniture waiting for the phone to ring I’m sure he wont be out of work for to long as someone will snap him up. City’s future still looks bright with or without Sven.

More football and we know the big game tonight will be staged at the other side of Manchester. Barcelona will be without Ronaldinho who has fallen from grace and is injured. Man U are hopeful Wayne Rooney will be fit after picking up what looked like a hip injury on Saturday. Man U definitely have the upper hand after the first leg and I expect their performance to be greatly improved from the poor show at the Nou camp.

Someone's 0 has got to go tonight as both Man U and Barcelona are un-beaten this Champion’s League season. Barca and Man U have kept clean sheets in there last four Champions League matches, so can we expect fireworks at Old Trafford? Cristiano Ronaldo is this seasons Champions League top scorer with 7 goals, he has scored 38 goals in all competitions for United this season. Only Dennis Law and Ruud Van Nistelrooy have scored more in a season. I expect Man U to get the job done tonight as now they are down to the business end of both competitions.
