Just a quick word to follow on from my first main site posting, to outline some of the things we'll be looking at in the weeks ahead.

I've been doing a lot of work recently on Bookings Indexes, focussing particularly on La Liga, where the tarjetas are flashed with wild abandon. Can we find an edge? Probably!

Also, if you fancy some weekend interest on the Live football matches, we'll be looking at Sporting Index's rolled up markets for all the live games.

Please let me know if there is anything you want me to look at, and of course, I will.

Thanks again.

Hi Spreadeck,

I have just taken a quick look at your site, but with my betting on horses and dogs and my war gaming interests I haven't had time to go through it all as yet, but I will over time.

I have had accounts with the spread boys for well over ten years, but cannot make money from them, usually it is win a little, win a little, then bang, lose a lot.

It seems the only way to make regular profits is on the whole to do two things:-

1. Pick one or two markets and concentrate on those.
2. Sell sell sell. The vast majority of markets are a sell.

I love to watch cricket and rugby, so if you have any ideas on those two sports I would be grateful for any help in making a profit from them. The one rugby market I like is ''kicking metres'' and have found this profitable being a buy for most of the time when there are consistent kickers playing. Selling runs around half an hour before a break in play is another winner for me, but I don't go overboard on this.

Dutchy.

Hi Dutchy,

Thanks for the feedback.

I think you are spot on with some of your comments, particularly regarding concentrating on a few markets. Make one or two your area of expertise in your chosen sport and you will probably do quite well. The spread firms are always likely to have statistics at their fingertips which Joe Punter won't have the time or patience to seek out, and that gives them the edge.

However, if you specialise in a small number of markets, then you can record and keep the data which can give you at least an even chance. Sometimes, as in fixed odds, the bookies price things up wrongly, and I think this is more prevalent in spreads, given the huge number of markets they offer.

Sell, sell, sell - yes, I think it's clear that most markets are priced up to attract buyers, and long term if you sold most markets you might well be ahead. I am currently running some tests on that, but as with everything in gambling, it's important thats you take a big enough sample which takes time. I'm sure a nice person at the spread firms could just tell me this info, but I'm not holding my breath!

The two strategies you mention are perfect examples of how you can profit in markets you follow closely and understand. I'll be featuring some of mine in the weeks ahead.

I have an interest in cricket and rugby, but they are not my chosen sports, but I'm happy to monitor any markets you would like me to, and the point of this forum is so that people like yourself can share and bounce ideas around.

Thanks for now.

Alex
